In 1612 ten women were hung for the crime of murder by witchcraft, but were they guilty or innocent? Demdike’s Devils is based on the transcript of their trial held in Lancaster Castle, England, and incorporates quotes from contemporary plays that were, in most instances, inspired by the same source and events.
